HOW CAN QUILT GUILDS SUPPORT THE ALLIANCE?

The quiltmakers and the guilds they support are the real strength behind the vital quilt community in this country. The Alliance for American Quilts needs the help of every quilt guild and organization to continue to document, preserve, and most importantly, share the stories of quilts and their creators.

We would like to thank our Current Quilt Guild Supporters.

Here's what you can do:

You can tell all of your members about our work and urge them to log on to this web site.
You can share with your members these two downloadable handouts: Joining Hands to Save Our Great Quilt History- Get Involved! and Become a Supporter!
Encourage members of your guild to join The Alliance as Charter Members and receive special benefits and incentives.
You and others you know who are interested in quilt history can become active participants in H-Quilts.
You can ask us about starting a Quilters' S.O.S. - Save Our Stories or Boxes Under the Bed™ project in your community, or let us know about a person whose life and work deserve recognition and documentation in our Quilt Treasures project.
AND, you can propose to your guild or organization that they take advantage of one of these opportunities to give:

Become a Guild Star - $300
	With each donation of $300, one quiltmaker's story will be saved and preserved in our Quilters' S.O.S. - Save Our Stories project. Q.S.O.S. is the largest grassroots oral history preservation effort of its kind. Our goal is the creation of a broadly accessible body of information and to make it available online through 45-minute tape recorded interviews. These interviews show the diversity of our quilt world.
Guild Star for Quilt Treasures - $10,000
	Quilt Treasures documents the stories of notable individuals who significantly moved last century's quilt revival forward. The stories become available on the web through documentaries. The immediate priority is to conduct video- and audiotaped interviews with as many of these people as possible. Your guild can join with other guilds to save one of these stories before it is too late. To see examples, please visit Quilt Treasures. When you make a donation to preserve and save interviews, you are making a REAL difference. In addition, your guild will receive from The Alliance: Credit for your guild with "This interview was saved by…Guild of Your Town, USA" on each interview's page. If your guild has a website, a link will be provided. All individuals, guilds and organizations, donating at all levels, will also be recognized in the Alliance donor list.
